Nona Lim is our founder and CEO. She is a former competitive fencer who started the company in 2014 to offer fresh, delicious, and convenient Asian foods inspired by her childhood in Singapore. Today, we offer fresh Asian bone broths, soups and noodles inspired by the region’s amazing flavors and cuisines.
We’re proud to be based in Oakland, CA and use local producers and purveyors as much as possible to make our products.
All Nona Lim products are sold chilled (online, or in the refrigerated or frozen sections of the store) because we use temperature, not processing techniques, to keep our products fresh. We never use any preservatives, additives or hard-to-pronounce ingredients. Because of this, please keep our products chilled in your refrigerator when you bring them home!

We make fresh, Asian food products which you can enjoy while on-the-go (individual heat-and-sip bone broth and soup cups and noodle bowls), or which you can cook for a quick and easy restaurant-quality meals at home (broth pouches, rice and ramen noodles).
All of our products are gluten-free except for the following: our Traditional Ramen, Dan Dan Noodle Bowl, and our Spicy Miso Ramen Bowl.
Our bone broths are made with organic chicken bones, or grass-fed and organic beef bones. We also use organic ingredients such as organic Miso and cane sugar as much as we can. Our Turmeric Chicken Bone Broth is 100% organic and USDA organic certified. Our Shiitake Beef Bone Broth is 96% organic and made with organic and grass-fed beef bones.
Our Shiitake Beef Bone Broth and Turmeric Chicken Bone Broth are paleo and keto-diet friendly. While not officially certified by the Whole30 program, they also meet Whole30 standards.
The taste and texture of the Pad Thai and Pad See Ew noodles are different from the Laksa noodles even though all of them are made of rice. The Pad Thai and Pad See Ew noodles are made in a sheet (using rollers) and then cut into strips. Because of that, these noodles need to have a little oil to keep them separate so that they don’t clump together. The Laksa noodles are extruded (i.e. they are squeezed through a pipe with little holes).

Our Traditional Ramen Noodles (formerly called Tokyo Ramen Noodles) are made here in the United States. Our other noodles are made in Singapore by a third-generation family-owned noodle manufacturer for the most authentic taste and texture.
There have been a number of studies and articles written about the benefits of bone broth and its healing properties. Bone broths are rich in protein, collagen and amino acids which can help:
-Reduce inflammation and help muscle repair
-Soothe and support digestion for good gut health
-Support joint health, immune system and metabolic functions
-Support a low-inflammatory diet
We think they taste amazing! (Plus we use organic and grass-fed beef bones, and organic chicken bones which have no hormones or antibiotics.)
Convenience! This is as close as you’ll get to homemade from scratch without the labor and mess. With our heat-and-sip cups you can also enjoy our broths while out-and-about.
The chicken bones used in our bone broth is made with organic free-range chickens from Mary’s Chicken in Petaluma, CA which is Global Animal Partnership (GAP) certified. This means that the chickens have access to outdoor areas with ample water and shade, enriched with bales and straw, and eucalyptus tree branches. They are fed an organic and non-GMO vegetarian diet. As we grow, we plan to continue to source from GAP certified farms as the GAP program evolves its standards in breed selection and housing conditions as well as employ a multi-step controlled-atmosphere processing system, which is widely considered more humane, by 2024.
Our beef bone broth is made with organic, and grass-fed beef which are free from antibiotic and growth hormones. The farms are responsibly and humanely managed, and GAP certified. This means that they adhere to the Global Animal Partnership standards, where the cattle are always on pasture, protected from weather extremes and more. Additionally, studies show that cattle raised humanely on grass produce beef that is more nutritious and are richer in omega-3, as well as vitamins A and E.

Shelf life and storage
If you purchased our products from your local grocery store:
Shelf life is indicated by the “Best by” or “Sell by” sticker placed on there by the retailer. If the sticker is missing, please ask the store where you purchased the product from and refer to the guidelines below.
If you purchased our products online:
Heat and Sip Cups: up to 3 months in your refrigerator and up to the frozen expiration date (found on the inner plastic seal beneath the lid) in your freezer
20 oz Broth Pouches: up to 3 months in the refrigerator and up to the frozen expiration date (printed on the pouches) in your freezer.
Traditional Ramen Noodles can last approximately 2 weeks in the refrigerator or up to 3 months in your freezer. If frozen, allow the noodles to defrost in the refrigerator prior to consumption. There should be a frozen expiration date sticker on the box.
Rice Noodles: The expiration date is printed on the noodle pouches inside the box. You can freeze the laksa noodles as well. The Pad See Ew and Pad Thai noodles are more delicate and keep best refrigerated.
Noodle Bowls: The expiration date is on a sticker on the outside sleeve.
12 oz soup pouches can last approximately 6 weeks in your refrigerator and until the frozen expiration date (printed on the pouches) in your freezer.
Once opened, we recommend that you consume your soups, broths, and noodles within 2-3 days or as quickly as possible to keep its freshness and optimal quality. Unconsumed products should be kept in an airtight and sealed container.
Yes! Feel free to freeze our cups or pouches if you don’t get to them.
Shipping & Delivery
Shipping our all-natural, perishable products requires extra materials such as gel packs or dry ice in order to keep the products at a safe temperature while in transit. This makes the overall cost of shipping slightly higher than when purchasing shelf stable products online. However, you can now enjoy a flat fee of $5.95 for orders over $50!
We ship anywhere in the United States except Alaska and Hawaii. We are currently unable to ship to international addresses and to PO Boxes.
We ship our products in an insulated cooler with ice packs and/or dry ice so that they stay sufficiently chilled until you are able to transfer them to your fridge or freezer. During transit the dry ice may evaporate, but trust us, they were in the package! If the products arrive still cool to your touch, then they should be safe to consume.
Due to the perishable nature of our products, we usually fulfill orders on Mondays through Wednesdays. Orders placed before 8:00 AM PST on Wednesdays will normally be fulfilled within the same week but please note that due to the current Covid-19 situation we may not be able to fulfill all orders within normal processing time. Your order may also be delivered to your home on a Saturday.
While we cannot guarantee the exact time frame or shipment delivery date by FedEx, we will try our very best to deliver your products in a timely manner.
When your order is shipped, you will receive an email with a tracking number. Please use this tracking number for additional information regarding your shipment. Depending on the size of your order, there may be multiple shipments. Frozen items are also shipped separately from refrigerated items (such as rice noodles and noodle bowls) to maintain optimal temperatures during shipping. If there are multiple shipments, you will receive an email for each shipment with tracking information for that shipment.
Occasionally, some products in your order may not be in stock at the fulfillment center nearest to you. If this happens, your shipments may arrive in multiple packages. You will receive an email prior to each shipment with tracking information. Frozen items are also shipped separately from refrigerated items (such as rice noodles and noodle bowls) to maintain optimal temperatures during shipping.
We are happy to offer credit or a refund for items that are damaged during shipping. If your product arrived damaged, please Contact Us with the following information: order number, damaged product item description, condition of damaged product upon arrival and photo, date and time package was received. We unfortunately cannot accept returns for our perishable food products or offer refunds based on personal taste.

We wanted to lean more into our Asian roots and highlight our great flavors, so we’ve updated our packaging to better reflect who we are and what we stand for. However, as we are in the transition phase, you may still see our products in its “old” packaging on store shelves or delivered to your door for a little while.
We noticed that some of the names are a little long, and might be a mouthful for our customers to remember! So we have shortened the names of some of our products. For example our “Thai Coconut Lime Bone Broth” is now “Coconut Lime Bone Broth”, and the Vietnamese Pho Beef Bone Broth is now “ Pho Beef Bone Broth”.
All of our Heat & Sips Cups are BPA-free and microwave safe. The cups can be heated per the instructions on the container's sleeve. The wine glass and fork image on the bottom of the cup is the international symbol for "food safe" -- meaning all the materials used in the product are safe for food contact.
Most of our packaging can be composted or recycled:
Heat & Sip Cups: The cardboard sleeve on the cups can be composted or recycled, and the cups themselves can be recycled. The cups are also great for reuse for drinking cold beverages or even as a sippy-cup for kids. They are BPA-free and food-contact safe.
Ramen and Rice Noodles: The outer cardboard box can be composted or recycled.
Noodle Bowls: The lid and broth tub can be recycled. The sleeve and the bowl itself is compostable or recyclable.

Yes. Go to your subscription account page (link was sent to you via email) and click on Edit. Under the Delivery Schedule section click on “CHANGE DELIVERY SCHEDULE” to switch how often you receive deliveries.
On your subscription account page click on DELIVERY SCHEDULE to see when your refill order is set to be delivered.
You are free to cancel your subscription at any point. Go your subscription account page and click on Delete to cancel.
You will not be able to apply an additional discount code as the subscription order is already discounted. Unfortunately this will be the case even if you have non-subscription products in your cart due to a technical limitation in Shopify. We recommend purchasing the non-subscription products separately so that you can still apply your discount code to those items.

Purchase a gift card from our website. When you receive the email with the link to the gift card discount code, simply forward the email to your gift card recipient.
Yes! When checking out, apply your promotional discount code, then your gift card code. If the total exceeds the amount available on your gift card, you will be prompted for another payment option.
You cannot reload a gift card after its initial value has been used up.
